The gain of a walkie-talkie signal amplifier refers to the amplification multiple of the radio frequency (RF) power of the walkie-talkie signal amplifier. As it is a bidirectional amplifier, there are uplink and downlink gains, which are generally the same under normal circumstances.

The RF power amplification multiple is represented in dB, for example, 10dB represents 10 times, 20dB represents 100 times, 30dB represents 1000 times, and so on. The dB number represents the relative ratio of the signal strength of the input and output ports of the device (or system). For instance, +10dB means that the device’s output has amplified the input signal by 10 times, -10dB means that the device’s output has attenuated the input signal by 10 times.
